About This Flag
The flag of Guyana, known as 'The Golden Arrowhead,' features a green field with a red triangle edged in black at the hoist, overlaid by a larger golden-yellow triangle edged in white pointing toward the fly side. The green represents the agriculture and forests of Guyana.

The black border represents endurance, and the red triangle symbolizes the zeal and dynamism of nation-building. The flag was designed by Whitney Smith, an American vexillologist (flag scholar), and adopted on May 26, 1966, upon independence from Britain.
