About This Flag
The flag of Seychelles features five oblique bands of color radiating from the lower-left corner: blue, yellow, red, white, and green. Adopted on June 18, 1996, it is the country's third flag since independence in 1976 and was designed to represent a young, dynamic nation looking toward the future.
Blue stands for the sky and sea that surround the islands, yellow for the sun, red for the people and their determination, white for social justice and harmony, and green for the lush vegetation. The fanning design symbolizes a nation moving into the future.
