About This Flag

The flag of Tanzania features a diagonal black band bordered by thin yellow stripes running from the lower hoist to the upper fly, dividing the flag into a green upper triangle and a blue lower triangle. Adopted on June 30, 1964, the flag merges elements from the flags of Tanganyika and Zanzibar following their union.

Green represents the natural vegetation and agricultural richness, blue symbolizes the Indian Ocean and the country's many lakes, black represents the people of Tanzania, and yellow stands for the country's mineral wealth. The diagonal composition gives the flag a distinctive and dynamic appearance.
